
Ms. Brinkmann launched her own law practice after an extensive career with the international law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP, and U.S. government service with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). She specializes in Washington representation for companies in the telecommunications, media and technology sector.
A recognized specialist in the communications field, Ms. Brinkmann is the sole member of Karen Brinkmann PLLC, and works with experienced, talented associates to achieve results for her clients with a minimum of overhead.
Recent transactions on which Ms. Brinkmann advised clients include the Alaska Wireless Network joint venture, CenturyLink’s Savvis cloud computing acquisition, CenturyLink’s merger with international telecommunications carrier Qwest, and the purchase and sale of rural telephone companies by FairPoint, CenturyLink and other clients.
Recent policy matters on which Ms. Brinkmann provided FCC representation include universal service reform and inter-carrier compensation restructuring for the U.S. telecommunications sector; special access reform; the National Broadband Plan; Internet Protocol television (IPTV); and the public safety broadband network in the 700 MHz band.
Ms. Brinkmann also represents clients before the FCC in regulatory enforcement proceedings.
