 KEEN is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. KEEN's mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.
 Sports Festival 2008 ~ Sixteen Sweet Years of KEEN!  Please join more than 500 KEEN athletes, volunteer coaches, family members and supporters for Sports Festival 2008, a festive and high-spirited day on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Hadley’s Park. The festival will celebrate 16 successful years of KEEN’s sports and arts programs, which are provided to hundreds of children and young adults with disabilities throughout the greater DC area at no cost to their families. The afternoon will include fun-filled activities and games, including tug-of-war, obstacle course challenges and organized sports such as soccer or volleyball. More details click here  KEEN Athletes Tour White HouseKEEN Club enjoyed a very special treat Saturday morning. Following weeks of anticipation, the group took a trip to the White House! Perhaps more breathtaking than the historic building itself were our athletes’ attentive questions, which sometimes stumped the Secret Service. The athletes expressed a deep interest and curiosity in the White House, allowing the experience to be far more interactive than normal. To everyone’s dismay, the tour was over before we knew it! Special thanks to Penny and the Secret Service of the White House for their support and enthusiasm. . KEEN Music DC- A new program! 
We are looking for supporters for a new program KEEN Music DC set to open in early 2008! The songs, musical instruments and dance movements introduced during KEEN Music classes create exciting ways for KEEN athletes to express themselves, build their self-esteem, increase coordination and focus on each athlete’s unique abilities. Currently offered in Maryland, this new program will be co-located with KEEN Sports for Kids and Teens at the St. Coletta School in Southeast, DC making it easy for athletes, families and volunteers to attend.
